Aurora 05, here to save the day! by kuramay Aurora 05, here to save the day! by kuramay
This if for A "Fat" Female Superhero Contest. [link]

Critiques are absolutely welcomed.

Well, the contest says I can do original character, so that's what I did. This heroine goes by Aurora 05, her actual name is Carmin Peacemaker, she is currently the mother of three children. She may look large, but she doesn't weight much. She is set in a universe similar to the one in Tiger and Bunny. (Because I'm lazy to make one of my own, and I love that setting to pieces.)

For those of you who are not familiar with the T&G universe, it is basically a world where superheroes are televised when they are saving the day. They are in contract with a channel called Hero TV. Each hero is sponsored by a big name corporation within the city, and they will have the company logo printed somewhere big and clear on their costume. When not saving the day, the hero will act as a model/mascot for the company, shooting advertisements to promote the company's products. The company, in turn, help promotes the hero with their advertisement. Basically... super heroes in capitalism!

Aurora 05 have the power to countrol gravity.

Carmin use to have the figure of Blue Rose [link] back in her youth. She was in a contract with A&E, the largest clothing brand in the city. Unfortunately, her model figure didn't last after her second child. After this, she was constantly pressured by her sponsors to loose weight (metaphorically, since she can countrol her weight).

Due to constant public pressure about her body image and the demand of her new child, Carmin decided to quit the superhero business after her contract with A&E was over. She decided to dedicate her time to becoming a mother and wife.

A few years down the road, another company, Butterfly Ink, asked her to sign a contract with them. Butterfly Ink believes the older generation would buy into a sense of nostalgia. They want Aurora 05 back for oldschool's sake. (Their primary consumers are over 30.)

Now that Carmin's third child is already entering elementary school. She find that her housewife life is getting very boring. She entered a contract with Butterfly Ink with one condition, that they don't pick about her body image. With this agreement, Aurora 05 is back in the game!

This is a promotional poster for the return of Aurora 05. Butterfly Ink tried to go with a retro style, for nolstalgia sake.

Edit: Carmin is a third generation American, the "Indian-ish" look is just part of her costume. Her sponsors must have thought it looked cool.

Your back story is great, it was a nice read into her character and world. I love all the pink and the Indian style.

Teehee! Thanks for reading and looking! Glad you like it.
I like pink. I remembered that period I avoided it cause it's "girly" and stuff, and I didn't want to be a "girly girl". I think this is also why I've never seen pink in superheroine costumes. (Unless it's magical girls, where the target audience are little girls.) It's like you can't take that color seriously or something.
But now I realized it's really just a nice color, and it would be silly to avoid it just because of its associations.

Sorry for the delay in replying! I get so behind T_T
Happy new year by the way :3
Wow that kinda interesting back-story there, you got a point. I never thought about pink colors much... but when you put it like that... I may have been unfairly prejudice to it too when I was younger. Happy to hear you've grown and I think I to have learned something! Thanks :D

Oh HEY! You got internet! Congrats!
Go look at the contest, not that you'll enter, but the story behind it is interesting enough.
